"The Love Letters" is a masterpiece of chamber opera heavy with emotions and thoughts of a woman sending letters to her lover after being separated for reasons, not within their control. Over 20 years she kept sending him letters until the day came where her final note arrived and she revealed to him that she had committed suicide the day they were split. She did not want him to suffer, and thus, she devised this plan to allow the memories of her to fade, and the impact of her death will affect him less.
