BIOGRAPHY

Sebastián Ferrada was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He began to study singing in Chile, while completing his studies in Economy at the Universidad Católica. In 2008 he settled in Milan, where he studied with Vincenzo Manno at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica and the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala.

In 2010, he began his solo career with the title role in Puccini’s Edgar, at the Auditorium of Valladolid (Spain). He also sang the roles of Manrico (Il Trovatore) and Radames (Aida). In that same year, he sang Don José (Carmen) and Verdi’s Requiem in London.

He wins the 9th International Competition “Aida” of the Fondazione Arena di Verona and sings with this company Radames at Teatro Filarmonico di Verona. In the next years he sings the role of B.F. Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata (Argentina) and at the Catania’s Massimo Bellini Theatre; Manrico (Il Trovatore, Verdi) at the Croatian National Opera in Zagreb and once again at the Festival Lirico di Massa Marittima (Italy); Torbeno in the Sardinian nationalist opera I Shardana by Ennio Porrino at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari; Nemorino (Elisir d’Amore, Donizetti) in a production of the historic Teatro Verdi di Busseto and Hoffmann in Offenbach’s opera Les contes d’Hoffmann for Como’s Teatro Sociale.He debutes as Pylades in C.W. Gluck’s Iphigènie en Tauride at Moscow’s Novaya Opera, makes his debut in China with the Shanghay Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Long Yu for the closure of MISA Festival and returns to Zagreb for a production of Verdi’s La Traviata (Alfredo Germont).

2016 starts with Aida (Radames) in Augusta, Italy, Verdi’s La Battaglia di Legnano (Arrigo) for the re opening of Legnano City Theater, once again Aida (Radames) in Athens National Opera, Greece, Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Hoffmann) at Macedonian Opera and Ballet in Skopje and Un ballo in maschera (Riccardo) both in Gijón, Spain, and Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto, Italy.In 2017 he debutes the roles of Renato des Grieux (Manon Lescaut, Puccini) at Milan Conservatory, Calaf (Turandot, Puccini) in tournée in Spain, Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana, Mascagni) at Mytho Opera Festival (Siracusa, Italy) and Ismaele (Nabucco, Verdi) as cover in the prestigious Arena di Verona Opera Festival. He also sang F.B. Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly, Puccini) in Vigo.

Next engagements include once again Turandot and Cavalleria Rusticana in Switzerland.Sebastián Ferrada sang in Italy, France, UK, Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, Hungary, Russia, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Switzerland and China.
