A WORLD OF FRIENDSHIP IN MUSIC
Russian soprano Yulia Petrachuk and Greek pianist Karolos Zouganelis will grace the Auditorium of the Seven Lakes to perform a concert of vocal and piano works by classical and contemporary composers.
You will hear beautiful song cycle by Rachmaninoff and Dubois, as well as famous arias by Puccini, Cilea and Lehar. Virtuoso piano works by Albeniz, Bizet, Volodos, Mozart, Liszt, Dubois and Rachmaninoff will complete the delightful evening.

Born in Russia, Ms. Petrachuk studied at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and is a graduate of Bern Opera Studio in Bern, Switzerland. Recently she performed Fiordiligi’s role (Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte) with Opera Camerata in Washington DC. In 2014, she performed Iolanta (Tchaikovsky's Iolanta) and Nedda (Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci) with Vocal Production NYC. Also in 2014, she sang Mimi (La Boheme), Adina (Elixir of Love) and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) with Dicapo Opera Theater, and Fiordiligi’s role with Bethesda Summer Opera Festival. In January 2014 Yulia had her debut in The Carnegie Weill Recital Hall.Her performed roles include: First Lady in (Mozart's The Magic Flute) with Ash Lawn Opera Festival; Princess Nicolette with State Theatre Bern, Switzerland (Prokofiev's Love for Three Oranges); Elisa (Mozart's The Shepherd King) and Pergolesi's Flaminio (Il Flaminio) with State Theatre Biel, Switzerland; Kupava(Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden) at Philharmonic Concert Hall, Lithuania; Mimi with Opera Ischia, Italy and with Moscow Great Hall, Russia; Semphira (Rachmaninoff's Aleko) and Euridice (Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice) in Moscow.In 2013 Yulia received a Grant by The Schuyler Foundation for Career Bridge, NYC. In 2015, she was a Finalist of the New Jersey State Opera Vocal Competition and Vocal Arts DC Discovery Series Competition. Recently she became a winner of the Montpelier Arts Center’s Classical Recital Series Competition in Washington DC. It was earlier in 2015 that Ms. Petrachuk began her collaboration with the American composer Emmanuel Dubois, who wrote the song cycle named “Yulia” dedicated to her.Her future engagements include concerts and operatic performances in Fort Myers FL, New York City, Washington DC, Moscow, Tula (Russia), and France
Karolos Zouganélis was born in 1977 in Athens and began studying music at the age of five. In 1992 he graduated with a First Prize from the Athens National Conservatory in the class of Myrto Mavrikou. The jury unanimously awarded him the mention “Very Good”. He has also studied with Fivi Vallinda and Elisabeth Kounalaki.In 1996, he is admitted to the “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris” (CNSMDP) and graduated with a First Prize in piano in 2000. At the CNSMDP he worked with Gérard Frémy, Sylvaine Billier, Anne Grappotte, Jean Koerner and Pierre-Laurent Aimard, and received also diplomas in vocal accompaniment, instrumental accompaniment and chamber music. In addition, he studied the Lied and Melody genres with Ruben Lifschitz and Jeff Cohen and took part in master classes with Christian Zacharias, György Sebök, Idil Biret and Dominique Merlet.He was noticed early on at the “Papaïanou Panhellenic competition” in Athens, and won the First Prize in 1991. He is also the laureate of several international competitions such as the “Concorso Internazionale Città di Senigallia” in Italy, the “Concorso Internazionale Città di Marsala” in Italy, the international competition “Anton Rubinstein” in Alessandria, Italy, the international competition “Alfredo Casella” in Siena, Italy, the “Flame” competition, in Paris, the “Concours Musical Régional d’Ile-de-France” in Paris, the “International Competition of Arcachon” in France and the “International Competition of Vulaines-sur-Seine” in France. He is also laureate of the “Mécénat Musical Société Générale.”He has received fellowships from the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the Académie de Musique de Villecroze and the Lili and Nadia Boulanger Foundation.
